About VividWall

What VividWall is

VividWall is a free library of wallpapers for desktop and mobile screens. The aim is simple: high-resolution images that are easy to judge before you download them. Each wallpaper has its own page showing the original resolution, aspect ratio, file format and file size, together with the author, source link and license whenever those details are known.

How wallpapers get on the site

Wallpapers are added by the site owner through a private admin area. Members can also submit a wallpaper after signing in; submissions are held for review and are not published until they have been checked. Submitters confirm that they own the work or have permission to share it.

New uploads must be real 4K or larger: at least 3840 × 2160 pixels in landscape or 2160 × 3840 in portrait. The check runs on the original file, not on a label typed in by hand. A few older wallpapers added before this standard may be smaller, and they show their real resolution. The site blocks exact duplicate files and flags images that look very similar to existing ones.

Sources, authors and licenses

When an author, source URL or license is recorded for a wallpaper, it is shown on that wallpaper's page, and the links point to the original. When something is not recorded, that detail is left off the page. We do not describe an image as public domain or Creative Commons unless that information has been supplied, and we cannot independently verify every submitted detail. If you spot a mistake or a missing credit, please tell us, and if you hold the rights to a work shown here, see the copyright page.

Guides

Alongside the wallpapers, the guides section covers practical questions: which resolution fits your monitor, how 4K compares with Full HD, how aspect ratio affects cropping, and how to set a wallpaper on Windows 11 and macOS.

Free to use, and how it is funded
